Barley Sattu Drink

 


How often do you find yourself with indigestion after a meal? Or even worse, knowing that you have eaten way too much or too rich and excessively heavy foods? Reaching for the antacid is hardly the answer, with antacids there is yet another burden on your body's whole digestive system.  Refined, Processed and Manufactured foods are acid forming in the body - that is when digested they form acidic residues in the blood stream. 

Eating predominantly alkaline food is far easier on the whole digestive system since it matches the ph of the blood which runs between 7.35 and 7.45. Within a few weeks of eating alkaline foods you will look and feel lighter, your energy levels will have soared, your concentration and memory sharpened, and the quality of your sleep will have improved dramatically. 

Eating alkaline means consuming fresh foods as close to nature as possible- Sattvik food - organic whole foods, predominantly vegetarian, with small amounts of legumes and whole grains to supplement an abundance of fruit and vegetables.

Barley is one of the best  alkaline grains that we can add to our diets and is so good for our system. This barley sattu is so easy to make and has amazing health benefits when consumed on empty stomach. Rich in iron and fibre it improves bowel movement. Flushes out toxins, aids in weightlOss, increases energy level and excellent for people with diabetes and high BP. 

Barley usually takes a lot of time to cook and this barley sattu is one of the easiest way we can add this super grain to our diets. 


INGREDIENTS:

1 CUP BARLEY

1 CUP BUTTERMILK, CHAAS

SALT TO TASTE

1/2 TSP ROASTED JEERA POWDER

1/4 TSP BLACK PEPPER POWDER

JUICE OF 1/2 LIME


STEPS:

  • Assemble all ingredients.
  • Heat a pan and roast the barley in a low flame till it turns golden brown and aromatic.
  • Turn off the stove and let the barley cool.
  • Dry grind to a fine powder.
  • In a mason jar add 1 tblspn barley sattu powder, buttermilk, salt, jet, pepper, lime juice
  • Close the jar and shake well
  • Pour in a glass and enjoy your nutritious Barley Sattu drink.

ASSEMBLE ALL INGREDIENTS


HEAT PAN AND DRY ROAST BARLEY TILL GOLDEN BROWN AND AROMATIC. LET IT COOL.

DRY GRIND TO FINE POWDER AND LET IT COOL 

IN A JAR ADD 1 TBLSPN SATTU POWDER, SALT, PEPPER, JEERA, LIME, BUTTER MILK. CLOSE AND SHAKE WELL
